I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with elders, caregivers, and people with dementia in one-on-one and group settings. I teach classes on dementia and caregiving to family and professional caregivers,
and the general public.
My therapeutic approach depends on the needs of each individual client. However, I most frequently use brief solution-focused therapy and evidence-based modalities, including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
My personal experience as a family caregiver-- for my grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer's, then for my sweetie who had Lewy Body Dementia, and currently for my mother-- inspires and informs my work with clients. I understand firsthand the importance of building a circle of support and seeking guidance as you juggle the seemingly endless responsibilities and rollercoaster of emotions that caregivers encounter.
I welcome individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ and those in diverse relationship structures, includin.g polyamory and consensual power exchange. In session, I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space
As an Asian American woman raised by immigrant parents, I am familiar with the impact of prejudice and discrimination, as well as the nuances of identity, belonging, and the struggles around meeting
family and cultural expectations.
